What is Githunguri Dairy Farmers Co-operative Society?
We are one of the leading dairy co-operatives in Kenya, owned entirely by smallholder dairy farmers. Established to market our members' milk collectively, we process, pack, and distribute premium quality dairy options under our household flagship brand, Fresha.
Where are Fresha products manufactured and processed?
Our ultra-modern processing plant is located in Githunguri, Kiambu County, Kenya. We collect fresh milk daily from our local farmers through numerous digitized collection points, chilling it immediately to guarantee unmatched freshness and safety before processing.
What range of dairy products do you offer?
Through our Fresha brand, we manufacture a diverse portfolio of nutritious dairy variants tailored for local market demands, including:
- Fresha Fresh Milk (Pasteurized whole milk pouch packs)

How can a farmer become a registered member of the Co-operative?
Dairy farmers within our operational zones can join by applying through their local collection center or main offices. To qualify, you must fill out a registration form, purchase the required minimum institutional shares, and commit to delivering clean, unadulterated milk to the Society daily.
What support services do you offer to your registered farmers?
We are dedicated to improving the sustainable livelihoods of our farmers. We provide extensive value-add extensions such as:
- Access to affordable, high-quality animal feeds and supplements.
- Subsidized artificial insemination (AI) and veterinary extension services.
- Financial empowerment through advance payment arrangements and partnerships with local financial institutions.
- Regular educational training seminars on best farming practices and cow management.
How is the Co-operative structured and governed?
The Society strictly follows democratic co-operative values. It is governed by a 9-member Board of Directors elected directly by shareholders to oversee strategic and commercial decisions. In addition, an independent 3-member Supervisory Committee acts as an internal audit watchdog to ensure compliance and transparency.
